GHA COVID-19 TESTING

What are the new COVID-19 testing procedures?

HM Government of Gibraltar, on advice from the Director of Public Health and in line with the COVID-19 Exit Strategy Plan, has revised its COVID-19 testing procedure.  This will involve self-testing, followed by a confirmatory test for those that are positive at the Covid Rapid test centre located next to the Gibraltar International Airport.

The current GHA drive through at Mid-Town will close on Sunday 24th April at 12:00pm.

From Monday 25th April, anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should test themselves using a Lateral Flow Test (LFT) that can be purchased from pharmacies and other commercial outlets. If the self-test is positive, please register for a confirmatory Lateral Flow Test with the Covid Rapid Testing service using the online form at www.covidrapidtest.gi 

 

What do I need need to bring for my test?

On the day of your test appoinment, the Covid Rapid Testing service will require to see your valid, in-date GHA card and the positive at-home Lateral Flow Test.

When do I get my lateral flow test result?

Within 30 min to 60 min you will be sent an SMS message (to your phone) notifying you of your test result.

I have not received my Test Barcode by email?

Will I get a lateral flow test certificate after I have done a test?

GHA confirmatiory lateral flow tests do not come with a test ceritificate.

 

VULNERABLE PERSONS

How do Vulnerable Persons arrange a PCR test?

Vulnerable persons experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should call 111 for advice and to arrange for a test if necessary.

PRE-SURGERY PATIENTS

How do I arrange a pre-surgery PCR test?

Individuals who require a pre-admission PCR test prior to surgery will be advised by the GHA Pre-Surgery Assessment Clinic team and issued with an appointment to attend the Covid Rapid test centre.  

 

COVID-19 SICK NOTES

What do I do if I need a GHA COVID-19 Sick Note becasue I tested positive for a confirmatory LFT or PCR test?

COVID-19 sick notes will continue to be available for those who test positive. Anyone who has had a confirmatory LFT or PCR and require a COVID-19 Sick Note should email covidsicknote@gha.gi.

 

TRAVEL TESTING

What are the rules for international travel to Gibraltar?

From Friday 18th March, testing will no longer be required for those entering Gibraltar via Gibraltar International Airport or via Gibraltar Port.  Testing and self-isolation requirements for entry into Gibraltar

 

What are the rules for international travel to England & Scotland?

From Friday 18 March, you do not need to take any COVID-19 travel tests or quarantine on arrival in England or Scotland. This will apply whether you are vaccinated or not. Travel to England and Scotland

When you travel to England and Scotland from abroad you:

  • do not need to take any COVID-19 tests before you travel or after you arrive
  • do not need to fill in a UK passenger locator form
  • do not need to quarantine when you arrive

This applies whether you are vaccinated or not.

It includes people who are transiting through England.

You should follow any rules that your travel provider tells you to follow.

Other countries may have rules about what you need to do to leave the country to travel to England. You should check travel advice for the country you are travelling from.

 

What is the process to book or register for a rapid test?

Save time, make sure you have registered for a test before queuing at the Testing Service.

  • Once you have registered you will receive a barcode via email.  Come to the Rapid Testing Service and join the queue.
  • There is no specific date or time to have your rapid test once you have booked online.
  • When it is your turn, you will be called to the test window and our Test Operative will ask for your barcode and test you immediately.
  • You will be informed of the test result via text mobile phone text message and email within 30 to 60 minutes after your test.  

 

I have not received my Test Barcode by email?

Will I get a lateral flow test certificate after I have done a test?

If you have paid £30 for a Travel or Aytime Test you will receive an electronic test certificate. Within 30 min to 60 min you will be sent an SMS message (to your phone) notifying you that an email has been sent to you with your test result and test certificate.

GHA confirmatiory Lateral Flow Tests do not come with a test ceritificate.

 

I have not received my Test Certificate by email?

Please check your junk or spam email folder to see if the email with your result and certificate is in there.

 

What happens if my plans change.  Does the test I paid for expire?

Your test sits in our system as 'Pending' until they are used.  Tests will expire 90 days after the date of purchase.

What is the minimum age for a lateral flow test?

Please Note: Testing is only available to individuals 6 years old and older if requested by a parent or guardian.

 

I'm a Gibraltar resident, how do a get a PCR test and certificate to travel?

Gibraltar residents who are travelling to other countries, which specifically require a PCR test, should contact the GHA’s Public Health Department by emailing covid-travelcertificate@gibraltar.gov.gi with the following information:

  • Full Names (as printed on Passport)
  • Passport Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Scanned Copy of GHA Card
  • Contact Telephone Number
  • Evidence of the country of destination requiring a PCR test (e.g. electronic flight ticket)

Public Health Gibraltar will make arrangements to have a test conducted at the Drive Through Facility, based on the information provided and on verifying the requirement for a PCR certificate for onward travel.  There is a charge for the PCR test and PCR certificate.

 

Who can take an Anytime Test?

Tests can be taken by travellers to other countries that require a lateral flow (antigen) test.  Tests can be taken by anyone wanting to prove they do not have Covid-19.

  • There is a flat fee of £30 payable in advance of the test.
  • Your result certificate will be sent via email within 30 to 60 minutes after your rapid test.

What is your Refund Policy?

Please email your cancellation request to airport@mms.gi  Please note, we can only process refund requests submitted via email, not by phone, so please do not call us. Your reason for cancellation will not affect your right to cancel the order. Our team will then process your request for you upon receipt.  Please note that refunds will not be given 60 days after payment of tests.

 

What are the Civil Contingencies Emergency (Coronavirus) Regulations?

The emergency regulations lapse at the end of the period of 30 days beginning with the date on which they are made or at such time as may be specified in the regulations.
